Efforts to Improve Student’s Emotional Quotient by Using Quantum Teaching Model in Physics Learning at School

Nowadays, education development is still emphasizing Intellegence Quotient, better than Emotional Quotient of student in learning process. Actually, that is not a guarantee that student who has higher IQ will get a good life than student with lower IQ in future. The main problem in physics learning is that many students have judged physics as a difficult lesson which has so many formulas. The conventional and monotonous process in physics learning is still being teacher’s choices. Many teachers can not relate between Intellegence Quotient and Emotional Quotient of student in learning, so the learning is being bored for them. Emotional Quotient is related to emotion development that depends to a specific time and condition which happened by somebody. Quantum Teaching is a right model of learning that can involve Emotional Quotient aspect in learning process. The objectives of this scientific paper is to know some efforts to improve Emotional Quotient of student with Quantum Teaching model in physics learning at school and to know its influences to students. Physics learning is a feed back process between teacher and student in teaching and learning process that learn about nature phenomena. Emotion depends to people’s stimulation to their physiological in specific time and place. Emotional Quotient is a use of emotion effectively to reach an objective and develop relation of people productively. Quantum Teaching is a model of learning where student can study in comfort and happy condition without decrease their concentration in reaching the material. The scenario of Quantum Teaching model is covered by word “TANDUR” that is Tumbuhkan (grow up), Alami (experiencing), Namai (give a name), Demonstrasikan (demonstrate), Ulangi (try again), dan Rayakan (celebrate). There are so many fail of student in receiving information from their teacher is caused inexpediency between teaching style of teacher and learning style of students. Quantum Teaching is emphasized to environment figuration which is comfort for student in physics learning, both of macro or micro environment. Quantum Teaching serves three components to accelerate learning process effectively, that is: Speed memories, creative thinking, and speed reading. Suggestion concept is also one of character in Quantum Teaching, so by using this technique, teacher can grow the Emotional Quotient of student up. In physics learning process, physics teacher must be able give more variations in his/her explanation, like giving reinforcement, organize voice, organize body expression, organize mimic, expression and eye contacts to students. Beside that, teacher must be able give moral message directly, agree with the principal of Quantum Teaching that is: “Enter their world, bring their world to our world and give our world to their world”. The application of physics learning by using Quantum Teaching model can improve Emotional Quotient student so they will be people that are smart in intellegent and also smart in emotional.
